Postpartum Runner Program
We understand that getting back to running (or any physical activity) after giving birth doesn’t come without its unique challenges. That’s why we have a dedicated program to give you the confidence and control to perform daily activities and physical exercise free of your symptoms.
Our 3-step process includes:
Physical therapy consultation and treatments with our postpartum PT specialist, who is also a mother of two and a Boston Marathon Qualifier. In addition to working with you to address issues with your deep core muscles, she will also address running-specific issues to help you move better with better pelvic stability and less overall stress.
Postpartum corrective exercise program with our certified postpartum exercise specialists within a private setting. You will begin to build general strength and conditioning in your deep core after learning the principles from the physical therapist.
Personal fitness training that builds off of the principles learned in physical therapy and postpartum corrective exercise sessions. This next step in training will prepare you for any physical activity, from running marathons to returning to HIIT training classes. These sessions will include more advanced movements that introduces even more resistance and variety.
What is the process?
Schedule your initial physical therapy consultation by calling 513-533-9355 or fill out this form to speak with our wellness coordinator to determine your next steps.
The initial consultation can either be a remote video session or in-person session with our physical therapist.
After the Initial Consultation you will schedule follow-up sessions as needed. These can be in-person or remote video sessions. If the session is in-person, the physical therapist will perform hands-on corrective treatment techniques, review your exercises, and teach you new exercises. Your running technique will also be addressed in a follow-up session.
Once cleared by the physical therapist, you will have the opportunity to progress by working with our postpartum corrective exercise specialists and personal trainers. They will be advised by your physical therapist.
*you do not have to be postpartum to enter this program. We accept perinatal women and any other females dealing with pelvic floor symptoms.
**On occasion, clients will be referred to our medical partners for more in depth pelvic floor examination. This is done on a case by case basis, and we will work in tandem with our partners to find the best solution to address your symptoms and return you to an active lifestyle.
“I had never really addressed my deep core after having children (my youngest was almost 7 years old at that time... yikes!) and had no idea that my lack of core strength was contributing to my pelvis being misaligned and therefore my knee/hip pain. Jen Schmidt, PT gave me some basic strength moves to do at home and recommended I work with Katie Kezele, BE pilates instructor. I did about 8 private pilates sessions with Katie and was amazed at the results. She taught me how to breath with my diaphragm and to engage my deep core/pelvic floor muscles in order to load my abdominals correctly for the moves we were doing. We worked pelvic floor, deep low abdominal muscles, hips/gluts. arms and upper back. We did a mix of mat and reformer work that Katie tailored each week to my progress. Jen and Katie made such a great team in talking through a plan for me. Both of them are super knowledgeable and passionate about women’s health, especially postpartum health & pelvic floor. I highly recommend!!”
