Emily Barnes, Pilates

Pilates Instructor

Emily has a background in ballet, gymnastics, and yoga. She earned her Pilates certification in 2005 and taught for several years in Washington DC. She recently moved back to her hometown of Cincinnati and is excited to find a new community of Pilates practitioners.


As one ages, the body inevitably goes through changes and injuries. Pilates is a wonderful discipline to practice whether you are completely healthy or nursing an injury. Pilates helps the body "get organized". When the body is properly aligned, the risk of injury is minimized. The principles of control and breathing teach practitioners to move mindfully and with proper form. On top of that, it's fun! There is an element of play to many of the exercises.


Emily's other interests include violin, reading, and animal rescue/welfare.
