Building a better runner
This 6-week workshop will run (pardon the pun!) participants through topics in running that will improve your durability and performance as a runner. You will learn:
How to improve your muscle and joint mobility in the appropriate areas necessary for reducing your risk of injury and for lengthening your stride.
Key muscle activation and strength exercises necessary to stabilize your body and lengthen your stride in order to reduce your risk of injury and improve your performance.
Run drills and form technique changes that will allow you to run more efficiently.
Programming tips on how to apply complimentary strength training and cross-training to your running program.
Impact of running shoes on running form and injury.
Effectiveness of orthotics and shoe inserts.
Sports nutrition tips on how to fuel and hydrate your body to optimize your recovery and performance when training and racing. This will be an interactive discussion on the differences between fueling in the off-season versus during in-season as well as fueling/hydrating in the heat.
