Wendy exceeded her own expectations.

What was the problem you were experiencing before you started your treatment/program at BE?:  Lower back pain.

Had you previously tried anything else to solve your problem before coming to BE? If so, what?:  Physical therapy, yoga, stretching, some core work.

What led you to BE?:  I started to see Eric for my lower back issues. Eric was recommended by my husband, the Track and Field Coach at Xavier University.

What services did you utilize at BE?:  Physical Therapy and Personal Training.

What are the obstacles you have overcome since coming to BE?:  As a result of training over the past 6 months, I am stronger and my back has not gone out. I no longer have to see a PT for my lower back issues.

What are some of the benefits that you have experienced working with BE?:  Since I started training, the two main benefits I have seen are increased strength (I see a real profession from when I started), and lower stress levels.

How did the treatment/training you have received at BE enhanced your life?:  There is new research to support that strength training can impact the neuroplasticity of your brain (fancy for it rewires your brain, similar to meditation). At six months in, I can tell a real difference in how I handle stress. I feel calmer and more able to handle the demands of balancing work with being a good mother and a wife. I didn't start training for this reason, but it was an unexpected positive side effect.

What is your favorite moment/experience during your time at BE?: This has been the first time in my life that I have stuck to a strength training routine. As a woman, the weights section of the gym always intimidated me. Marsalis and Jason create a welcoming environment where the mood is light but it's a serious workout! My favorite moment came a couple of weeks ago when Marsalis had me do a hard move that I didn't think I would be able to do, and Jason looked at me and said, "I don't think you have back issues anymore because you wouldn't be able to do what you are doing." That was the moment that I realized that I was exceeding what I thought was possible and it inspired me to keep pushing past boundaries and get even stronger.
